Alan Kogosowski

Alan Kogosowski is a pianist with remarkable technical and musical abilities. He has brought music to audiences in an exciting way that, above all, makes people feel involved and happy to be part of this unique expression of the human spirit. He is a distinguished Chopinist and has made it his mission to promote the works of the great master. He is also a presenter of music, bringing together world-class talents in various series of musical events.

Dana Zeimer

Dana Zeimer’s fresh, clear soprano voice soars beautifully and elegantly in music from the Baroque era to 20th century, from Bach and Handel to Rodrigo and Obradors. Dana has a wide variety of cultures to draw on for her musicianship, born in Israel, growing up in South Africa and then moving to Australia at age 18. Currently based in Hamburg, Dana performs in opera and as a cantor in liberal synagogues. She gives solo concerts in churches in Hamburg, including a recent programme for vibraphone and voice with the Hamburg Symphony Orchestra. It is with great pleasure and love that Dana brings you her specially chosen selection of songs at Rubys.

Many will be familiar with Stuart as the keys player and occasional composer for
Ruby’s regular, eight-piece Merle Street Jazz Band. Not surprisingly, Stuart’s dynamic
improvisational skill, clever style variation and courageous use of harmony is grounded
in classical training. We are proud to be showcasing Stuart’s skill as a piano soloist!
Come and enjoy a diverse range of music that will include jazz standards
alongside classical pieces by Mozart, Beethoven, Rachmaninoff and Grainger.

Sam is  currently studying at Melbourne Conservatorium of Music. He has been studying, teaching and performing Classical Piano for the past thirtheen years.

Edoardo is an undergraduate Bachelor of Music student at Royal Holloway University of London, currently on an Exchange Program at University of Melbourne. His academic focus lies between Musicology and Piano Performance.

Linda and Matt will be playing the entirety of the CD at Ruby’s along with
Cantabile et Presto by George Enseco, the ever-popular Carmen Fantasie by Francois Borne,
as well as music by African-American composer William Grant Still,
Chinese-American composer Chen Yi, and Irish composer Linda Buckley.

The CD title “French Connections” refers to the composers: Camille Saint-Saens was French, Prokofiev was heavily influenced by his time in Paris in the early 1900’s
(there are snippets of his “Romeo and Juliet” music in the sonata; “Romeo and Juliet”
was written for the Ballets Russes, an internationally-known Paris-based dance troupe);
and Yuko Uebayashi is Japanese but has lived and worked in Paris since 1998.

Their debut 2016 CD, “French Connections” features three epic works for flute and piano:

  • Sonata in D Major, opus 94 by Sergei Prokofiev
  • Sonate by Yuko Uebayashi
  • Sonata in D Minor, opus 75 for violin and piano by Camille Saint-Saens.

International soloists Linda Chatterton and Matthew McCright have performed together
as a duo since 2009, including appearances throughout the US and Southeast Asia;
St Martin-in-the-Fields, London; National Concert Hall, Dublin.
